So I got the official email today from management. Looks like if the merger goes through, I won’t be an HPE employee anymore. My division (Enterprise Services) is merging with CSC to create a brand new IT Services company. I have to say that I’m a little disappointed, but only because I was so proud of being a Hewlett Packard employee. The brand is globally recognized across multiple generations. Coming from a conservative, non-tech-savvy family, simply being able to tell people the name of my job and invoke some recognition was really great for me.
No point in wallowing though. One good thing about me is that I love change. My managers have phrased the situation as “embarking on a new adventure,” and I agree. Who knows, maybe CSC has better internal resources for employees. Maybe I’ll have a better time integrating with the CSC culture, or learning from my colleagues. HPE is great, but weak when it comes to these aspects. I’ve already attempted to reach out to some CSC specialists to learn more about them. I’m hopeful that great experiences lie ahead for me.
